BqChem chem ID files not correctly updated

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34Z100EVM, GASGAUGECHEM-SW, BQ34Z100

Hello all,

I am working on the BQ34z100EVM device with the evaluation software, and when I use bqChem tab it sends me a message "can't find bqCHEM.ini configuration file" but the Chem.ini file is include in C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments\bq Evaluation Software\Plugins\Chemistry. In fact I can choose the battery kind in the list thanks the last chem updater version.

After the loading it says the chem Id is updated, but the problem is the SOC fuel gauge has not changed as you can see below, even if I dis/reconnect the battery and whatever the capacity of the baterry selected.

So I don't know what to change in my files to make the battery selection efficient. Any guess ?

Kind regards,

Michel

  • Michel,

I tested bqChem on my test station and it updated the data flash properly without warnings. You should run the Chemistry Updater tool to see if that repairs the link.

    http://www.ti.com/tool/gasgaugechem-sw

If that does not help, then try reloading the bq34z100 Evaluation Software setup program.

You can check the OCV tab on the Data Flash screen to see if the ChemID was updated.

  • Hello Tom,

thank you for answering, I didn't mind of the OCV tab in the Data Flash before,

but now it effectively follows the battery I choose in the bqChem when I click on read all. Then I press on write all to update in the data flash as it should works.

I still don't see any change in the SOC fuel gauge if I move the battery for example from a 900mAh capacity to a 6720mAh one in the list

for the same battery I use. Could it be true that the SOC doesn't change following the battery selected ?

Is there anything else to program in the Data Flash I could miss to update a new kind of battery or should it be done automatically from the bqChem ?

    Best regards,

    Michel

  • Finally I reload the evaluation software and now it works properly.

    Thanks !
