BQ28550 - data sheet clarification

Hi team,

I have a question regarding the BQ28550 data sheet. On page 19 of the datasheet, there are a couple of lines that mention "0V".  I'm assuming 0 volts charging is where the cell has reached 0 volts through self-discharging during long storage times, for example.

Does the charge FET remain closed for the charger to charge the cell?

Thanks for the help,
Yvette

  • Hi Yvette,

I do not see on page 19 of the data sheet of the bq28550 any references to zero volts. However, you do not want to let your cells discharge all the way to zero otherwise they will be rendered useless.

Yes, During charge of the battery, the Charge FET will remain closed for continuity in the circuit .

    thanks
