tps2375 in midspan

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2375

is it possible to implement poe using only the 4,5 pair as well as the 7,8 pair? ...in other words, not using (or connecting) the RX,TX pairs at all

if possible, any special things to implement (or not connect) using the tps2375?

midspan switches are supposed to be able to be programmed to provide POE on either set of pairs....

  • There is a distinction to building an end-to-end system that works, and one that is interoperative and compliant.  Generally speaking, a PSE could put put out power on either pair set, but not both at once (endspan may not be configurable).  A compliant (and interoperable) PD should work from either pair set.

Beyond this, I am not sure what you are really trying to accomplish. You can make an end-to-end system work on two pairs if you can be assured that both the PSE and PD are (pair set) are aligned.

I refer you to the IEEE specification (IEEE802.3 current revision clause 33, or 802.3at) for compliant behavior.
