TPS62150 versus TLV62150

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62150, TLV62150

1. Could the TPS62150 replace the TLV62150? (fot 9V input and 5V or -5V outputs).

2. Regarding the control inputs SS/TR, DEF and FSW in -5V or -3.3V circuit: (a) In the TLV62150 data sheet, figure 40 page 22, these control input are connected GND (SS/TR via capacitor), and (b) in the TPS62150 data sheet figure 48 page 26, these control inputs are connected to -3.3V. Why there is a differentiation?

  • 1. Yes, the two devices are pin to pin compatible with the TPS62150 being a better spec'd version.

    2.  Yes, figure 40 in the TLV62150 datasheet is wrong.  You are welcome to submit documentation feedback at the link at the bottom of the page in the D/S.  Refer to the app note on the product page for the details of the inverting circuit.

  • Thank you for the quick reply.

If we already prepared the artwork for negative output circuit design according to figure 40 in the TLV62150 datasheet - you mean that it will not work? Which wires are must be changed to get the negative output? or we need to do exactly according to figure 48 in the TPS62150 datasheet?

We need to get -5.5V instead of 5V, and therefore we need to replace the TLV62150 with TPS62150.

  • Hi Shai,

the problem in TLV62150 D/S - figure 40 is, that the Pins "DEF" and "FSW" are connected to ground instead of VOUT. Correcting this errors leads you exactly into figure 48 of TPS61250 D/S - of course the values of the resistive divider are different.

Exactly - for a 5.5V-supply, you must go with TSP62150.
