TPS2540 – Can TPS2543 use only " USB charging port identification circuit "?

not very celar your question. What's your application? if you want to design a USB chargign Port, you can choose DCP_Auto mode, only charging, can't data communication.

TPS2540 does not use Vbus Power sw(IN & OUT pin is Open).

Can TPS2540 use only " USB charging port identification circuit "?

What's your application? There are SDP, CDP, DCP_Auto mode, whic mode you will use? In additon, why you want another power switch since TPS254x has integrated power siwtch and current limit is adjustable, or the Rds,on is too large for your application?

My customer uses TPS2540.

The application is AV center.

My customer uses SDP, CDP, DCP_Auto mode.

In the constitution of the system, my customer must use other Vbus Power SW.

Sorry for the delay. According to BC1.2 specification, mode change must have discharge. So  you can use TPS2540 output dischare contorl the enalbe of  parallel power SW.

The schematic looks can't achieve discharge. You can connect the TPS2540 output to Other IC (Power SW) Enble, when TPS2540 output discharge, also Other IC (Power SW ) is disabled, and the output would discharge.

My customer fixes CDP mode.

There is not a mode change.

Please let me ask one more question.

It is the following condition that power switch of TPS2540 is changed (OFF to ON).

Do other conditions exist?

• Any transition to and from CDP

• Any transition to and from SDP

(1) Fixed CDP, bypass TPS2540 is ok;

(2) In DCP_Auto mode, transition from default divider 1 mode to BC1.2 shorted mode, it also have output discharge.
