Hi!

I have current limiting problem with bq24196. Can anybody please tell me about the capicator b/w SW and BOOT is of 47nF or 47uF? In datasheet they have mentioned 47nf with 2.2uH. which exceeds the limit of LC filter frequency given in datasheet i.e(15KHZ-25KHZ).

I also setted the first 3 bits of Input Source Control Register REG00 to 111 in order to gain 3A of current but still the Input current doesnt exceed 500mA.

I will be thankfull if somebody can help me.

Hi,

The cap between SW and BOOT is 47nf and is not for LC filter. The 20uF on SYS node and the inductor form the LC filter.

When DC source is plugged-in at VBUS, the input current limit (REG00) is determined by the state of PSEL & OTG pins. The Host can change the REG00 to other current limit. The actual current limit is the minimum of the value set in REG00 and ILIM pin. The ILIM pin current is typically 485/R.

Please refer to datasheet p.19 for detail input current limit detection.

Hi，
I have current limiting problem with bq24196，too.

I setted the Input Source Control Register REG00 at 4.44V.The ILIM pin current is setted at 2.2A.

I use 5.2V/2A adapter charging battery. the charge current is 1A. In other word,the Current is not 2.2A. If I setted the Input Source Control Register REG00 at 4.68V. the charge current is smaller than above.

Who knows that?

What is IINLIM (REG00[2:0] set to?

What are your PSEL and OTG pins tied to: High or Low?

I setted the Input Current Limit Control Register REG00 at 1.5A.

the PSEL pin tied to Low；the OTG pin tied to Low，too.

Hey user,

Do you have load on SYS?

Can you tell what battery voltage you see near the BAT pin?

What did you set the battery regulation votlage to?
