bq20z75 V1.81 Golden file issue......

Dear all,

I would appreciate any comments to the following question:

  • If I load a Golden File into the device that created the file in the first place, - shouldn't I have exactly the same SBS data displayed (voltage, current, temperature, full charge capacity  etc) since there has been no changes in any calibration constants ?

(Before loading the golden file - I did a fresh 'senc programming to clear hidden constants)

Best regards

Kjell

  • The readings should be very close, but maybe not exact. If you run the calibration routine several times, you will notice that the coefficients will problem be slightly different from run-to-run. The capacity data is based on simulations and their inputs may be different after reloading, so the data may be slightly different. Are you seeing a problem?

  • Tom,

Thank you so much for your support. Very much appreciated!

I have noticed what you have described and fully understand the reason why. No - I see no problems.

The reason for my questions was: When making a Golden dfi from the bq20z75 V1.81 (working with an upgrade from V.160) I noticed that when I loaded the Golden file into the device that made the file in the first place just to check that everything was OK,  I got deviations in current, voltage, capacity etc far more than you are referring to during several calibrations etc.

Since I wrote the message I have found the reason why - the DF Calibration constants in this Golden dfi are all factory default and not the one's  from my calibration! The reason could be the following:

When performing the learning cycling to make up a reference Golde dfi I have gone through several charge - discharge cycles "manually" (3 - 5 cycles) and all DF constands are set to values optimized for our application. Gas gauaging is working correct as well.

When exporting a dfi from bqEasy 1.Setup or from 3F - Read/Review dfi - both files are working correct when reloading into the device - but once I create a Golden file from  bqEasy 5. Cycle,  - I have just pressed the buttons Initialize/Charge and All Done to get access to the Update Golden Pack button to start the creation of the Golden Image file. When doing that I end up with factory default DF parameters and not the one I have programmed! This way of doing this works fine with the BQ20Z75 v1.60 but not for the V.181. As long as I know that this is probably a difference that is made by will and the way I have done it is not the correct way of doing that (?).

As long as all DF parameters are set correct, correct Chem file is programmed and Ra tables and gas gauaging is working it will be the same if I create a dfi from bqEasy Setup or 3. Read/review dfi ?

    Do you agree ?

    Best regards

    Kjell

  • Kjell,

Yes, the results should be the same for either method to save the dfi file.

    Tom

  • Tom,

Thank you som much for your support. Now I feel comfortable that we are doing it the right way.

    Best regards
