How can I make sure NatSemi/TI ICs that I purchased aren't counterfeit?
I received odd looking LM2596 modules and would like to identify possible fakes.
Thanks and best regards,
Sebastian Kraus.

Hello Sebastian,
please get the date code off the top and we can tell you if it's original.

Giuseppe
Hello Guiseppe et al.,
thanks for responding.
There's no apparent date code (á la WWYY) discernible.
The top reads as follows:
(N)JM25RA
LM2596S
-ADJ P+
Best regards,
Sebastian.
Hello Sebastian,
we checked the date code and we could not find shipments of Die run code “RA" then it’s most likely a counterfeit part.
do you think you can ship us the unit for decap and inspection?
Regards,
Giuseppe
Hello Guiseppe,
as I have three identical units at hand, I could spare one for the time being.
How would we arrange for shipping, where to?
Regards,
Sebastian.
PS:
Is there a way to send/attach a picture?
I'd like for you to rule out an error on my side by taking a look for yourself.
Hello Sebastian,
you could ship a unit to:
Giuseppe Pinto
Texas Instruments
2900 Semiconductor Dr
MS C1-230
Santa Clara, CA 95052
USA
you can attach picture through this forum by using the "insert file" tool (clip icon).

Giuseppe
