How can I make sure NatSemi/TI ICs that I purchased aren't counterfeit?

I received odd looking LM2596 modules and would like to identify possible fakes.

Hello Sebastian,

we checked the date code and we could not find shipments of Die run code “RA" then it’s most likely a counterfeit part.

do you think you can ship us the unit for decap and inspection?
