TPS7A7100 Doubts

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A7100

HI,

We are using TPS7A7100 in one of our design for generating 1V to power a FPGA rail.

There is no V(OD) specified for Vout less than 1.2V. We are using this regulator to generate 1V from 3.3V input with Iout requirement 100mA.

Is there any issue with this approach or should we have to down convert 3.3V to 1.8V to generate lower voltage to provide Vin to TPS7A7100.

Also do you suggest any other regulator for this.

Regards

Justin

  • Hi Justin,

3.3V IN and 1V OUT at 100mA is a valid operating condition for this device. Please see Figure 7 of the datasheet. With 3.3V in, the dropout is about 50mV and will be lower for a 100mA load as shown in Figure 6. Therefore, a 2.3V input output differential is more than enough headroom to regulate the device.

    Regards,
