SMPS 28VDC@4 amps - UCC3813 and PMP3029

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PMP, TL431

Hi all,

I am looking for a reference design(schematic+BOM) for switch mode power supply(SMPS) with the following specifications and having LOW BOM cost.

Input voltage: 230V AC, 50Hz

Output voltage: 28V DC @ 4 amps.

If anybody can send me the reference schematic and BOM, that will be a great help for me.

Early response will be appreciated. Thank you very much in advance

Regards,

Sanjeev Kumar.

  • Hi Sanjeev,

If there is not anyone who has a quick reference design, this request may be best supported by a local TI field applications engineer. Would you need help getting in contact with one?

    Best Regards,
    Anthony

  • Hi Anthony,

    Thanks for your quick response.

Some reference i got on TI website which is exactly matching with my requirement.

    Please refer the link below

    http://www.ti.com/tool/pmp3029

But here i am unable to get more details and it is having additional Additional +12V and +5V rails.

Which i want to remove so i can reduce the BOM cost. But Due to lack of information i am unable to do it.

If u can suggest, How to remove the the additional rail, that will be a great help for me.

Please help me to get the contact detail of local TI application field engineer in Bangalore(INDIA).

    Thanks and Regards,

    Sanjeev Kumar

  • Sanjeev,

I'm not very experienced with the UCC3813 designs but the change to only 28V output should not be too complicated. The second page can be completely removed and the secondary side feedback circuitry modified to regulate to a 28V output. I've taken a screenshot of the FB circuitry I am referring to below. The reference design has more circuitry than needed because it is designed to support a variable output.

I expect this section of the schematic can be simplified to something similar to the circuit below. R16 and R23 set the output voltage based on the reference of the TL431A.

I have added the UCC3813 and the PMP reference design to the title of your post to catch the attention of the appropriate applications engineer.

    Best Regards,
    Anthony

  • Hi Anthony,

Thank u very much for ur suggestion. Can u help me to get some local TI field application engineer or who is having some work experience on UCC3813 and PMP3029 chip.

    Thanks and regards,

  • Hi Anthony,

I tried to analyze the feed back circuit, TL431 with calculator8371.tl431.xlsx available in the website. Which I have attached here.

But for the 4A current rating its not unable to proceed the design. And we have to use two transformer in this schematic. Can we reduce this to 1.

    Thanks and regards,
