Fusion Digital Power Designer - How to export an SVF file?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCD90120A

I have made a programming of a UCD90120A and tested it in the demo board in version 1.8.230.

I want to make an SVF file with which to program my device in the factory.

I open the designer in 'offline mode', but it tells me it needs the device to copy from its PROM!

So I get the hardware together again and open designer in online mode.

When I try to export the SVF, its tells me:

Advanced features have not been enabled. ProgramAndDataFlashSVF export can not be run until you have enabled the Fusion GUI's advanced feature mode through the File->Preferences form.

Now I tried many things under file-preferences, but I can’t find the right one to allow making an SVF file.

What is the secret?

  • Chose the Data Flash SVF/JTAG option which does not require a password instead of the Program + Data Flash SVF/JTAG option from the File --> Export window.

The Program Flash is pre-loaded in the device before it leaves the factory and the customer only needs to apply their configuration to the Data Flash of the device.

The next revision of the Fusion Digital Power Designer will hide the two Program Flash export options to prevent confusion in the future.

  • Thank you very much, Brad. I thought 'program' referred to what I had done. Not so...
I still find it funny that the device has to be connected for the program to generate an SVF file of my - eh - data, but that can be handled!

  • Using the Program file option is a common issue, which is why I had the GUI designer hide those functions for the upcoming release.

The reason for being connected to a live device when exporting an SVF or Hex file is that it requires direct access to the DFlash memory which is not available offline.
