BQ34Z100, SOC does not act expectedly

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34Z100

Good morning,
I am using BQ34Z100 with ChemID = 0x6100 (NiMH battery pack). When I charge the pack, SOC is rising slowly accordingly to my calculations and everything seems to work well, but when I try to discharge the battery, the SOC value gets very quicky to 0percent even if I am only discharging the battery pack for several seconds.
May I be missing something in the configuration? Everything else seems to work well.
Please suggest a solution.

Thank you very much,
 Marek Novak

  • P.S.:
I have also noticed this quick changing of SOC when charging the pack (it jumped from 48 to 100percent). Should I for example modify  Cell Min Delta V parameter or something like that?
I have a 2000mAh pack and I was charging it by constant current of 230mA.

    Thank you for any help,

    Marek Novak

  • Marek,

The bq34z100 will not work properly with NiMH cells. We are releasing the bq34z120, which has been optimized to work with these cells. Please register to the forum or provide contact information and we can make arrangements to get material for the z120 to you.

    Regards
    Tom
