The device cannot return to I2C communications mode once HDQ mode has been enabled, so the device will have to be replaced. There should have been a warning message issued, that the process is not reversible, when you enabled HDQ.

There is no way back when you go to HDQ mode. As stated above, your only choice is to remove the old chip and replace it with a new one.

There is currently no provision to reverse HDQ mode, but we may add it at some point in the future.
