Traces for TX and Rx Coil

Hi,

May I know the traces on PCB board for both terminals connected to either TX or RX coil have to be symmetrical ?

Base on the design of PCB layout for Evaluation board, the traces connected to both terminals of the coil are symmetrical.

Will it affect the performance of power transfer if they are not symmetrical ?

Thanks

  • The traces do not have to be symmetrical.

But good layout practices should be followed.

Evaluation module layouts and PCB traces are in the user’s guide and most gerber files are on line.

  • Hi Bill John,

Thanks a lot for your reply.

What are the good practices should follow for routing the traces from TX /RX IC to the coil ?

    1) Thick and short traces ?

    2) No via is allowed on the traces ? (will affect inductance if via added)

If the requirement on the PCB layout for the those traces cannot be fulfill due to size constraint, will it detune the coil resonance frequency?

If yes, then how to tune back the matching frequency?
