I have an LED lighting application which utilizes aircraft 26VAC, 400Hz for power. This application requires PFC and harmonic suppression.. Thus far I can't find any chips or circuits which will provide PFC and harmonic suppression which will operate at 26VAC, 400Hz. I plan to follow the PFC section with a LM3421 LED driver. Does any one have any suggestions?

Is this application going into an actual airplane, or is it that you just want to create a display using a 400Hz power supply?

This application will go on an aircraft and has to meet the requirements of DO 160, harmonics and PF.

Sorry Fred, that lies outside my area of expertise.

While you wait for a better response, you may want to look at the way portable carry-on adapters are designed for airplane voltages. I would think they would have to meet the DO 160 requirements. From there you could implement your LED control. The LM3447 provides dimming control if you need it.

Thanks for your suggestion. I am not sure if there is a special adapter for airplane use. I would assume that the standard adapter that comes with a laptop or IPad is not designed to meet those requirements. There is a provision in DO 160 that relaxes that requirement if the power consumption is less than 35VA. I am not sure what the VA consumption of a typical laptop.
