BQ76PL536A: change address to BQ

Hi!

I want to know if it is possible to give a BQ any valid address; or if it has to be necessary first BQ on stack address1; second BQ on stack address 2...etc.

I have two BQs configured as HOST in 2 different boards, and both of them are comunicating with the same uC (which is in a third board) via isolated SPI Bus.
Can I give address "1" to one of them  and address "2" to the other one? Or as they are both HOST-BQ both of them must have address equal to 1?

I don't know if I have explained myself...

  • Hi Marina,

in case they are not addressable a 2 channel digital operated analog switch may help e.g. DG333 or similar.

    Regards

    Uli

  • I just want to make sure I understand you correctly.

You have 2 PL536s on one board. Does it have own uC? If that's the case then you can have 3rd IC to address 01.

I need to see your block diagram before I can be sure.  If  you designe it correcly then you can still have Add 1 to 3rd IC without the uC.

If you can show me the diagram then I can give you more comments.

You should have device Add 1 to 1st and Add 2 to 2nd IC.

  • I'm sorry I haven't explained myself correctly. I have 3 different boards:

    - 2 of them are equal, and each one has a BQ

    - 1 of them is the "master board" and it has a uC

    I attach a block diagram:

In this situation, can I give Address 1 to BQ on Board 1 and Address 2 to BQ on Board2 ?

    Thanks,

    Marina

  • You must set the bottom IC from each board to host mode. Hsel must connect to GND.

Yes, bottom IC should be address 1 for both board. Remember, you can only talk to one board at a time.
