BQ20Z95 EVAL KIT

Hello, I am working with a BQ20Z95 eval kit. I was getting a USB time out and thru driver re-installs, that has now changed to BQEasy reporting it does not recognize the device. It does acknowledge the EV2300, and in dialog box it shows the BQ20Z95 as a  valid choice.

It will pull data but it warns that it is at the users  risk. I did verify the board is not in shut down, but I would appreciate further direction.

As for the functionality of the gas gauge itself, I have it connected to the LCD from TI, and that works. I am able to read and display data.

One of the tasks is to reprogram the power on splash screen when the LCD powers on. Currently it displays a vendor's company name in Singapore. I have see in the Data flash where there are several manufacturer programmable fields, but none that pertain to the startup screen on the LCD.  Can you point me to where to look for the company name and logo?  It is unclear whether that is in the BQ hardware, or in the LCDs firmware.

I am using a Lenova laptop that has Windows 8 32-bit OS. This is the 2nd eval kit. The first kit was working fine, as BQEasy recognized the device and communicated with out issue. On this first unit the LCD was DOA.

Drivers I have tried: Windows XP/2000, and the Windows 7 64-bit driver as well. The XP driver advises that I am using later than Windows XP/2000, I should try installing just the XP driver. In the forums, I found an answered question where the Win XP and BQEasy software were attached. I downloaded and installed those, after removing the previous software and rebooting, same result.

The Win 7 64-bit drivers would not install correctly, it would complete the install and then after it was finished, would generate an E000023 Plug-n-Play error, reporting it was unable to install the drivers.

Thank you for your time.
