Hi there,

i'm seriously interessted in the Evaluation Board AN-1819 LM5118. I got some questions about this module. What i need is a buck/boost-converter which provides a output of 10 A. Is it possible to modificate the evaluation board to guarantee this output? What are the limiting parts in this circuit? Can i replace these parts with other to improve the circuit?

LM5118 2-switch design has a limitation. Please refer AN-2178 4-switch design.

Hi,

thanks for your answer. But what is the advantage of using 4-switch design instead of 2-switch? The Application Report of AN-2178 inclueds also a schemantic for a 3 A output.

The power limitation of 2-switch design is caused by the use of two diodes.

4-switch solution shows better efficiency at heavy load due to 4-switch operation, which result higher power capability than 2-switch design.
