Hi,
Have anybody used LM5010MH for 5V and 0.5A output. I am using this IC for my application (Input is from 20V to 75V) but it blows off.
Kind regards,
Varindra

Hi Varindra,
At what conditions does the part blow up? VIN? Are there spikes above absmax.
Dear Vijay,
Thank you very much. The IC blows at light load (about 0.05A to 0.1A @5v output). The IC is working fine upto some hours (on this light load condition) and after sometime it blows up. We have not taken a log because of its varying working hours (like in one case it was working for 12hours, in another case it lasted for 24 hours). We had tried for some 8 - 10 ICs.
But before that I just wanted to know why I am not able to generate this operating condition (about 0.05A to 0.1A @5v output) in webench for this IC.
regards
What VIN are you working at?Are you using the evaluation board?
Webench team can probably answer why it does not create this condition. I am assuming they have used some minimum max load as a filter.
We are using 12V to 60V as input voltage and have used the components as mentioned in the evaluation board for our board.
It is strange that the part should fail in this Vin range. Is it possible to share the schematic and waveforms?
Hi,
The schematic reads VIN 18-90V. Are you really applying 90V to the part?
The text does not mean much. As I said previously, we intend to apply from 12v to 60v and we were testing it for 45V DC.
