BQ34Z100, missing 6100.chem file

Hello everyone,
I would like to ask, if there is an official support for 0x6100 chemistry (the only NiMH) in BQ34Z100. When I want to load the .chem file to the gas gauge, I get a pop-up message saying: "Cannot find the .chem file." When I have a look into the directory containing other .chem files, I indeed cannot find 6100.chem file. Is the file available somewhere? Is it possible to make BQ34Z100 work with this chemistry? I know, that TI are preparing BQ34Z120 specialized for NiMH chemistries, but in our application, we would like to have a possibility to switch between a LiFePO4 battery and NiMH battery pack. So it would be really convenient if it were possible...

Marek,

We are working to see why the chemistry files are not downloading to the Chemistry directory. In the meantime, you can download the attached zip file and place the files in your directory. Also, the algorithms on the bq34z120 have been optimized for the NiMH cells and the bq34z100 may not work properly with these cells.

Hi Tom,

Just going through the same exercise (with presumably the latest software) and noted the '13 date on the post. Has there been any updates?

I have not received any notification of the '100 versus the '120. What's your recommendation?

The bq34z120 will not be released and it was replaced with the bq34z100-G1. The -G1 device can support Li-Ion, PbA, NiMH and NiCd cells and some new features were added to improve performance.
