TLC59711

Hi!

I build up a test circuit with the LED-Treiber tlc59711 and four SMD LEDS  from CREE. They are powered by 3 AA batteries with 1.5 V per each.

Now I have got some problems in the behaviour of the

LEDs. The brightness of the LEDs is not enough for my application so I am on my way to increase the brightness controlled by the LED-Treiber and so I am testing different things with the hardware and the software. In the moment the software is not running completely ok on the circiut so I started measuring the signals.

Another question came up:

Temporarily I have got a capacitor connected from VREG. I have putted there a 100nF capacitor. Is there a must to have 1uF capacitor like mentioned in the datasheet?

I think ths capacitor (as it belongs to the linear regulator) does not have an effect directly an effect on the work of the linear regulator regarding the brightness.

I think not, but nevertheless the question is there a need for a Pull up resistor on the data or clock connection.

A picture of my small test circiut is added .

Does somebody have got experiences with this LED-Treiber?

Thanks and Greetings.

  •  Hello Roko,

I recommend you to use 1uF capacitance for VREG capacitor. If the capacitance is 100nF, VREG voltage might be not stable due to the device production difference.

Also any pull up resistor is not needed for "SDTI" and "SCKI" signal if these signal are not floating node on your board.
