Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS22965, TPS22985, TPS27081A
Hello,

Could you please kindly let me know about safe operatin area of TPS27081 , TPS22965 ?

1.
If we use TPS27081 without  safe operation area, will be TPS27081 shutdown or breaked ?

2.
Please let me know the failure mode of these item ?
Short ? or Open?

3.
In the datasheet page 24 of TPS27081, SOA curve is difference between VGS voltage.
Especially Figre21 curve is falling exponentially.
Could you please kindly let me know this reason?

4.
There is not Safe operating area description in the datasheet of TPS22965.
Could you please kindly let me know this reason?
Can TPS22985 output maximum current 6A in the all conditions ?

Best Regards,
Ryuji Asaka

  • Hello team,

    Sorry for bothering you.
But could I have the reply of these questions please ?

Could you please let me know in the order in which it was found, if there are questions which take  some time to check?

    Best Regards,
    Ryuji Asaka
  • Ryuji,

We are in the process of updating the TPS22965 datasheet with the SOA curves you are looking for. In the meantime, could you tell us about your application use case? What is the max ambient temperature of your application? What is the current profile of your application (duty cycle of the load)?

  • Hello Smiriti san,

    Thank you for the information.
I' m chacking current profile to our customer.
I will let you know again after get the information.

In the meantime , if you will have the answer for my other question ,please let me know.

    Best Regards,
    Ryuji Asaka
  • Hello,

    I got cusotomer's condition information.
However , their design is not fixed yet.
So, they may change this condition.

    --------------
    Continuous Current (A):  1
    Ta(°C): 25 / 45 / 65 / 85  (not fixed yet so please let me know each conditions value)
    --------------

I think that this data for check to our customer whether  use TPS22965 in their condition.
So, please kindly let me know it....

    Best Regards,
    Ryuji Asaka

  • Ryuji-san,

    1. tps27081a will break

    2. It can do either, depending on how the metal melts. Most likely open though.

    3. The curve falls exponentially because, as temp rises VT (threshold voltage) rises. At Vgs=1.2V you are already much closer to the threshold than the other figures. Essentially the part is being turned off, that is why you see the sharp decrease.

  • Hello,

Thank you very much for the infroamtion.
    I understood.

Meanwhile, I got the below current profile information from my customer and posted in the other day.
Could I have the feed back for this information please ?
    --------------
    Continuous Current (A):  1
    Ta(°C): 25 / 45 / 65 / 85  (not fixed yet so please let me know each conditions value)
    --------------

    Best Regards,
    Ryuji Asaka
  • TPS27081A can be used under these conditions.

  • The TPS22965 can be used under the conditions you listed without any reliability concerns.

  • Hello,

    Thank you for the information.
    I understood.

    Best Regards,
