bq51013B

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ51013B

Hello.

I'm developing a meassurement device which is powered from Supercaps. To charge this device I want to use the bq51013B module.

My question is, if the device needs any extra power supply or if it is selfpowered when it's connected to the transmission module? I didn't found this information (maybe I only didn't seen it). It's necessary for me to know, cause in the case the Supercaps are totaly empty there is now power at the device and I don't want to put another connection to the device (Datatransmission is over Bluetooth Low Energy).

Thanks for helping.

  • Denny,

AD pin and the AD-EN pin are used for that purpose. You will need to must the external FET to turn ON and OFF the wired charging option. You should be able to disable the wireless charging using AD pin. Figure 3 and 4 in the datasheet is good example.

  • Thank you for your response.

So this means, the bq51013B doesn't need an extra powersource to start connection and charging, right?

That was the information I'm looking for, cause I don't have enough space atz my meassurement device to implement any other connections like USB or something.

    Thanks for helping.
