DC-DC converter

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UC3825, BQ24450, UC3906, UCC28950

Sir, I am planning to construct a DC-DC converter of 1kW around UC3825 IC as controller. The configuration is that Input voltage 250-450 and output is 27.5V. I choose Pushpull topology.

i completed my design in simulation, and i have a doubt that whether really the UC3825 is suitable for the above application or there is any  other IC is suitable for the application( basically the system is charging the battery)

kindly send your valubale comments at the earliest,

Regards

  • UC3825 is not a charger! is ok for the power conversion but won't manage the charging as a real charger would do...

I reccomend you to add a proper charger stage cascaded to the UC3825, based on UC3906, UC3909 or BQ24450...

  • Its not a bad choice but you need an 8 bit uController for managing the charge process.(what I do for chargers and its extremely flexible)

For 1kw application I suggest phase shifting instead of push pull, because there are many mosfets out there for this range of power.

phase shift leads to Lower EMI and EMC and higher efficiency(with mos not igbts). look at UCC28950
