TPS65920 - how to put into test mode

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65920

Customer is asking:
I am doing an experiment with JTAG on the TPS65920. In the documentation, it says that JTAG pins are multiplexed with GPIO pins. TI doesn’t explicitly say what you need to do with the TEST pin on the TPS65920 to put it into test mode.

  • Per Table 2 -2 page 20 in the attached document, it looks like you just pull this pin high for TEST mode. Also see section 12.5 page 101 for JTAG use descriptions.

  • Hi Melissa,

Although the datasheet does not explicitly say how to enter the JTAG test mode, the information is there.  See Table 2-2 Signal Descriptions.  It states if the JTAG test mode is not used, to leave this pins floating.  Due to the presence of the pull down resistor, this signal will be pulled low putting the pins into the default GPIO state.  This means that pulling the TEST pin high will enable the JTAG test mode.  See Table 3-4 Digital I/O Electrical Characteristics for required pin levels.
