TPS71401 dropout

Hi,

  1. The following is extracted from page 3 of TPS71401 datasheet.  Is the condition highlighted below a typo, as it shows Vin < Vout ?

  2. The charts in the datasheet are all reference to TPS71433.  What will the dropout be if the adjustable output is set to 1.8V and Iout=80mA, with Vin=3.3V ?

Thanks,

CM.

  • Hi,

Thanks for your post. Dropout is measured for this device by forcing, Vin to 0.1V below the nominal Vout value. Under this condition, the difference in Vout and Vin is measured and that is the dropout voltage.

For Vin =3.3V, Vout = 1.8V and Iout = 80mA, the dropout voltage should theoretically be slightly less than what is spec'd on the PDS as dropout improves with lesser input voltage.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

    Regards,

    Kartik
