     Can bq24172/bq24610 support 9.6V NiMH battery? Could you recommend a charger with power path selector?

    These chargers were developed for Li-Ion batteries, CC and CV charge algorithm.

    NiMH requires just CC and has a different type of detection for charge complete and  termination.  This detection is fairly sensitive and hard to implement externally, not to say it can't be done, but there are very limited resources for any non-standard design.
