hello,
i am trying to design a system which has a DC input source of 24V 14A by using "power architect" section of WEBENCH. I need to drive a halogen lamp of 8V and 10Ampers(guaranteed value for inrush current). It should definitely has an on&off control. Anyway, in order to achive the control, i should also use a microcontroller of 5V. So, i added a second load of 5V, 2A.
i guess, i should protect my design for over-current state since the lamp can drive more than 10A over the lamp's lifetime or can be short-circuited in some way. For this purpose, i am trying to use a HOTSWAP controller. It will protect my system in over-current or over-power conditions. Whenever such a condition occurs, i do not want to reset my mcu with the circuit breaker(HOTSWAP), and instead, i want to give an error for the user.
But i could not see any design in WEBENCH that satisfies the above criteria. All of the designs WEBENCH offers have the HOTSWAP controller just after the DC input source(24V 14A) and both of the loads are connected to the output of that Hotswap. Of course, i can connect my 5V load directly to the source and realize my idea, but i want to make sure that this has no bad effect to the system. And can you tell me what to do on Webench if my above mentioned design is realizable on it?
Thanks in advance,
Tankut
