Fast Startup time

hi,

i am looking for a buck switching regulator having following specifications,

input voiltage range 4-60 Volts

output voltage 5 volts

output current 1A

Main requirement : the start-up time should be less than 20usec

  • How much output capacitance would you need in this application? With this start up time it may be the main limiting factor. For example if 47uF were used, the amount of current needed to charge up the output capacitor would be I = C dV/dt = 47uF * 5V/20us = 11.75A. I do not have a good recommendation yet but this is making me think to use a device with a higher current limit than is required for the nominal 1A output.
