Bq27200 gauging with solar panel

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ27200

Hi ,

I am trying to gauge Solar panel output

i need help from you guys on how to gauge it and mimic the Solar panel instead of a battery pack.

I also need suggestions- should i need to Configure the factory settings of BQ27200 EEPROM registers ?

if yes what are the information i need to gather before setting the EEPROM registers ?

Is it mandatory to alter the EEPROM registers??

PFA schematic for detailed description on my connections with BQ27200.

Hoping i get reply from you guys soon we are nearing to production deadline.we have to freeze on the part BQ27200.

  • Hi Rajath,

What exactly do you want to gauge about the solar panel?

Do you want to just measure the voltage, current, and temperature?

A fuel gauge like the bq27200 is running an algorithm to tell you how much usable battery capacity is available in a battery, so I'm not sure why you want to use it with a solar panel that does not store any energy.

  • Hi dMax,

Our application is based on solar power harvesting so we need to calculate the charge.

We need to measure voltage ,current and temperature also.

So to calculate these values can i directly read the registers in BQ27200 and get the required info or should i need to configure the EEPROM registers as told by one of your TI employee in one of the forums.if yes then-

What are the information i need to gather before setting the EEPROM registers ?

It would be grateful if you could help us out by giving clear information on how to use BQ27200 IC for our application.

Here TI employee tells customer need to program the EEPROM reg to get a valid values when u read the BQ27200 registers.
