Best device to design a 4W DC/DC isolated power supply

Hello,

Looking to design a 4W isolated power supply. 500kVrms is good enough, just needs to be isolated from a vehicle battery.

Vin=9-16VDC

Vout=5VDC

Iout=750mA

The design might have to support 24V systems, so the same question applies.

Hi Scott,

If you go to the PowerLAb Ref Design Library page: http://www.ti.com/lsds/ti/analog/powermanagement/reference_design.page , click on Isolated, you'll get a listing of the PMP Reference Design. Click on the Output Voltage column, scroll down to 5V, there are dozens of designs. Sorting through the VIN MIN, here is the PMP4626: http://www.ti.com/tool/pmp4626.1 , although it is 20W. PMP6934 is a 25W design: http://www.ti.com/tool/pmp6934 , and PMP5694 wide VIN and 3.5W: http://www.ti.com/tool/pmp5694 .

What I'm confused about, however, is the 500kVrms isolation - should this be 500Vrms, or 5kVrms? 500kV does not seem feasible.

And the "support 24V systems" - does this mean VIN = 9 - 24V?

Thanks. I meant 500Vrms. 24V systems would be double of 12V systems for Vin range. 12V is 9-16VDC, so 24V is 18-32VDC.
