LP8556 / maxmimu current without I2C control

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LP8556
Hello,

I searching LED drriver IC of below conditions and I found LP8556.
<Conditions>---------------------
VIn: 11V ~ 16.8V
Vout: 21V
Iout : 50mA/ch , 4ch
Dimming : PWM
Fsw : about 600kHz
Don't need I2C control.
-----------------------------------------

I think that LP8556 maximum output current without I2C control is 46mA/ch by  LP8556-E08.
LP8556-E08 Imax is 23mA and ISET_EN=1 and CURRENT register "FFFh".
So, I user 12korms as Rised, we can use 46mA/ch by default value.
Is my understanding correct ?

If there is other appropriate device, please let me know.

Best Regards,
Ryuji Asaka

  • Hi Ryuji,

All existing LP8556 device options are optimized for 25 mA/CH or less.  While you may use the RISET to adjust the current up or down from the nominal ILED of 23mA for the LP8558-E08, the Vheadroom settings  can only support up to 25mA/CH.  Supporting 50 mA/CH requires optimazing the DRIVER_HEADROOM (register AAh) and HEADROOM_OFFSET (register 9Eh) settings.  Overriding the existing settings (or EPROM defaults) requires system's ability to send I2C commands. If the I2C is not available in the system, a new device option may be requested.

  • Hi Davor,

"If the I2C is not available in the system, a new device option may be requested."

Is there a way we get a device option capable of 50mA? Pre-programmed?

    Thanks.

  • Hi Davor,

    Could you advise the soonest?

    Thanks.

  • Hi-

    I'm sorry for the delay.

A new device option pre-programmed for 50mA/CH support requires involvement of a development team. I suggest contacting your sales representative who can request a new device option.

    Regards,
    Davor
