Best kind of battery and power supply design for high torque motors?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62140

Hello,

I am working on a project which involves movement of a servo motor/ dc motor and requires a quite a lot of torque. I am not sure how to approach the issue and what considerations should be taken for  the power supply design. The motors that i propose to use are :

Guidance and tips would be much appreciated.

Thank You.

  • Hello Dinesh,

You can use Lithium iron batteries for DC motor as well as servo. The power supply design will depend on the current(maximum) required by the motor at max.torque.

Depending upon max current you can use a regulator & appropriate motor driver. Please mention the current so i can provide further assistance.

    Thank you.

  • Hello dinesh,

The servo motor HS-645mg you are using can consume upto 1.8A at 6v supply.( visit : http://www.phidgets.com/products.php?product_id=3204_0).

Hence you can use two li-ion batteries in series having 4.2A rating & thus you can use TPS62140 to design power supply(attached with the post) for the motor.

I did not found any detailed current specification about other (DC) motor.
