Using BQ24725A with non Li cells

This device is categorized as a LI+ battery charger.  As long as a battery pack falls with in the Voltage and Current capability of the device, Could this be used for other chemistry cells ?

More specifically, can it be used for NiMH ?

    Yes. bq24725A can be used on other type battery because it is SMBus charger. The charge profile is controlled by host controller, such as: trickle charge current, charge termination, maximum charge voltage and current setting. These settings are decided by the host controller. And then, host controller sends commands to bq24725A. The bq24725A will follow the SMBus commands  to start charging.
