I use the BQ29330 in a battery management system, but have a problem with the short circuit function.
I have set the short circuit in discharge configuration register to be 0x0000.
For some reason it does not disconnect the battery, but instead the BQ29330 chip is blowing and I have to replace it.
It only blows when I short circuit the terminals for long enough. If I just connect them for a short period it sometimes gives a XAlert fault condition, but the status register is showing either a WDF condition or no fault condition at all. Please see the attached circuit diagram to see how the BQ299330 is connected.
