TPS65930 VBUS

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65930

Hi ,

In our board  we require four USB ports . For that  we had connected OTG port of OMAP 3503 to TPS65930 OTG Phy to ISp1502 ( HUB CHIP ) .

We are facing trouble in getting this combination consistently working on all our boards . The VBUS on TPS65930 appears on some boards and in other boards it  does not .

Can any one of you help us to determine what exactly is the problem . Any software test suite is available so that it can be used to determine the state of  charge pump circuitary on TPS65930 ?

Thanks in advance ,

Sairam

  • Hi Sairam,

If there is inconsistency then I am assuming that you have the SW configured correctly and problem may be due to HW. There are three setting in SW that you need - all USB LDOs active, DRVVBUS='1' and HFCLK active.

With these settings you should be able to see correct voltage on VBUS. The inconsistency maybe with SW (in case the driver is shutting down DRVVBUS for some reason). You can try to check DRVVBUS when the VBUS is not active.

On the HW side please check if the capacitors on the CP (CP.CAPP and CP.CAPM) and VBUS to GND are correct.

As a manual check you can try to set the registers manually (not in any OTG mode) and check VBUS level. This may be a good experiment.
