Not able to change the qmax cell 0 value in bq34z1xx

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EV2400

I am trying to update the initial value of the Qmax cell 0. but the value is not getting loaded and the i get NACK for the checksum data. i am sensing it because of the automatic q max value update. Is it so? if so, how should i configure Qmax cell 0 initial value.

  • Are you seeing the NACK's while using the EV2400 or your uC? I have verified that these parameters can be changed using the EV2400. If you are seeing NACK's while using this interface, then your device may be damaged. But, I would think that all it would NACK all communications. If you are having problems while using your uC, then you are going to have to compare waveforms between the EV2400 and your uC to see what is causing the problem.

One other thing to check first is that the device will not allow you to update some parameters with Impedance Track enabled. You can export a gg file, set Update Status to 0 and import the gg file back into the device. Press the Write All button to transfer it to flash. This will disable IT.

  • Thanks Thomas. The device was gone bad, replaced it.

    I have facing another issue.

I am trying to configure the BQ device through the microcontroller. I am able to configure a sublcass with out any problem. but when i try to follow the design steps, and configure different subclass in a sequential way, The very first subclass i am trying to configure is getting configured but, the next subclass, i am trying to configure gets NACK.

    What might be the issue?

  • The device does not support switch switching subclasses in the same transmission. You will have to issue a STOP bit and start a new transmission.
