UCD9090 reset control during I2C programming.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCD9090

Question: Is there any way to completely disable any changes to the system reset pin (GPO) from the sequence while loading new firmware over I2C from a host processor?

  • Hi,

It looks like the ROM mode for programming the device would work.

Can some say how to generate an I2C loadable file that will:

    (i) put UCD9090 in ROM mode,

(ii) program the image that we want,

(iii) reset and take the device into normal mode?

Section 9.5 contains an example but does not say how to generate this script using Fusion.

  • Colin,

The only way to disable the assertion of the System Reset response while leaving the overall functionaility in place is to remove the Conditions that  generate an assertion, see below.

Another approach might be to disable the System Reset before the update and re-enable after the update is complete.

Note:  There is FW (PFlash) and Configuration (DFlash). FW comes preloaded from the factory and does not need updating.  Configuration is loaded by customer to implement the desired features.  It is possible to load the configuration in ROM mode but the prefered method is by PMBus command.

Also, I beleive you indicated in another post that the host device which would be loading the configuration changes is powered by a rail that is enabled by the sequencer.  Putting the sequencer in ROM mode disables its capabilities as a sequencer so there would be no power for the host and no update of configuration.
