TPS65951 Transition Registers

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65950, TPS65951

Hello,

For manufacturability, we decided to change from the TPS65950 to the TPS65951.  One of the nice features of the TPS65950 that we were utilizing were the CFG_Px_TRANSITION to mask transitions.  The following masks came in handy:

1.)  STARTON_VBUS:  We do not want the device to power-up in the event that a voltage is present on VBUS.

2.)  STARTON_VBAT:  We do not want low-voltage oscillations on the battery to cause the system to oscillate.

3.)  STARTON_RTC:  There are times where we do want the timer to start the system, and times when we do not, so we want to be able to adjust this value.

If I'm understanding the differences document correctly, these registers are now read-only, which I unfortunately didn't discover until my real-time simulator arrived.  A couple of questions:

1.)  What was the reasoning behind the decision to make these registers read-only?

2.)  Is there any other way to mask these kinds of events?

Thanks,

Jake
