impedance tracking

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ20Z70

hie there

(Question1).

Is there any difference in results achieved between using BQ EASY for impedance tracking(and subsequently capacity learning) and using command 0021 in manufacturer access for impedance tracking(and subsequently capacity learning)?

(Question2)

when i force BQ20Z70 to begin impedance tracking by entering 0021 in manufacturer access, the bits QEN, VOK are highligthed. After charging the battery to full, and letting it relax for 2 hrs, should i wait for the R_DIS bit to be enabled before starting to discharge battery at C/5  or this bit has no effect as long as the 2 hr period has lapsed?

  (Question3)

What is the meaning of R_DIS bit and after discharging battery at C/5 rate to 0mAh,should this bit continue to be highlighted or not?what about Max error at this point, should it instantly change to 5% from 100%(full reset value)?

please help on these questions

  • Hi Rueben,

    1. There shouldn't be any differences. Hitting the initialize button on bqeasy enables IT. which is the same thing as sending mac access command 21.

    2. No you do not need to wait for the r_dis bit to get set. R_dis getting set means resistance update has been disabled.  The bit you should be concerned about is Vok. You should see that Vok gets cleared after the wait. It means a DOD point been taken which will eventually be used to calculate Qmax and eventually update Qmax.

3.no the R_dis bit should be cleared. Max error goes to 5 %  when there is a resistance update, 3 percent when there is a qmax update and 1 percent when both updates has occured. If r_dis gets set at the end of your learning cycle it means your resistance table updates didnt occur or was disqualified.

    thanks
