Hi All,

In the datasheet of bq34z100 (SLUSAU1B –MAY 2012) the formula for date conversion on Table 21. Data Flash (DF) to EVSW Conversion is given as Day+Month*32 +(Year-1980)*256 which seems to be erroneous , the right formula is Day+Month*32 +(Year-1980)*512 .

Please provide your comments on the same

Abhay,

The right formula is Day+Month*32 +(Year-1980)*512 and the firmware uses it. The other one is a documentation error and we will correct it.

Hi Tom,
Please can you also clarify the day and month format, are they counted from 0 or from 1.
i.e. is January month 0 or 1. When I set the date to 1-Jan-1980, I don't read 0 out. Is the Date default value correct in the data sheet?

Morgan,
You will use a 1 for January. We also found that the 256 in the formula should be 512. Here is the correct formula per the SBS spec.

Manufacture Date = Day + Month*32 +(Year-1980)*512

Does that mean that the default register value of 0 is an invalid date then?

The default value is not 0. It should be 21H.

Manufacture Date = Day + Month*32 +(Year-1980)*512; for Jan 1, 1980
Manufacture Date = 1+32+0 = 33 = 21H

OK good, thats the value I'm getting, the data sheet states 0 as the default in Table 20. Thanks
