LM5117 with external gate driver

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5117

Hi,

I am designing a 150Vin to 120Vout buck converter and I think of using the LM5117 with an external high-voltage gate-drive IC and an auxiliary 24V supply to power the LM5117 through Vin.

The Diode emulation mode would not be used as the LM5117 switch node would be grounded. I have read that the diode emulation mode is forced during soft-start, so the low side FET would never be ON during the soft start period in my circuit. However the body diode or an additional diode in parallel with this FET will enable start-up.

Is it OK to use the LM5117 in this way?
