About ON/OFF control of LM2679.

I would like to carry out ON/OFF control of LM2679.

Can control of ON/OFF of Css by a open/short be performed?

If Css is short, I will think that it will be in an OFF state, but is there any problem by using this for an ON/OFF function?

    Css is not meant to shut off the part.

    Grounding Css will cause the part to try to regulate to zero volts.

    So it will still be drawing quiescent current to run the device and you can still occasionally see switching.

     

    If you need a 5A part with a dedicated ON/OFF PIn look at the LM2678 which pins out the ON/OFF instead of soft start.

    There is also a newer version of the part called the LM22678 which switches at higher frequencies to shrink the footprint of the design.
