bq25504 and MTTP

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25504

I am confused about the use of the dynamic MPPT on the bq25504.

I want to use it to charge a lithium ion (3.7v) battery from a small solar cell. From what I have read it seems that a good open circuit voltage for the cell would be around 2.5 volts (because V_in should be less than the battery). The voltage at max. power point for such a cell is around 2 volts.

Should I then not fix the MPPT of the bq25504 to 2 volts rather than let it change by periodically sampling a ratio of the open-circuit voltage of the cell. ... because in the real world the sun doesn't shine all the time and the open circuit voltage will change.

I hope that makes sense.
