TPS650250 current consumptoin for channel VDCDC3

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS650250

Hi,

I am using TPS650250 for power management unit. I am using the channel VDCDC3 for generating voltage 3.3VDC. As per in datasheet(pg8), it has mentioned as at test condition Vo=1.6v it is 800mA.

So what is my case what will be the current for output 3.3V?

Thanks & Regard

Karthik

  • Hi Karthik,

The DCDC3 converter can supply 800 mA even if the Vout is set to 3.3V. However, since this is a buck-converter the minimum input voltage is increased from 2.5V to the Vout + some voltage headroom. I took a look at this in the lab on our EVM and it appears that you will be able to draw 800 mA on DCDC3 which is set to 3.3V for a Vin range of 3.7V to the max Vin. If the Vin is less than this range then you can expect the converter to not regulate to 3.3V with 800 mA load.
