Questions about bq24190, 1. blinking at STAT 2. faster charging

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24190

Hi,

I'm using bq24190 in host mode with watch dog disable. I've two questions,

    1. When I disconnected the battery load, I found the STAT pin blinked and the blinking frequency was obviously higher than 1Hz. What does this mean?

    2. I set the max charging current as 2.8A and it needs 5 hours to charge a 5000mAh battery. How to set it faster?

    Thanks.

  • IF you are using a thermistor in the battery pack, you should get a temperature fault.

If the TS pin is fixed on the charger PCB then the part is cycling between charge done and recharge and the STAT pin will cycle (blink).  each time the charge is terminated the INT gives off a pulse so if you have a host that monitors this you can conclude the battery is removed.

The cycling speed is a function of battery output capacitance and leakage (load) on the BAT pin.
