Hi TI:

I'm surveying i-PAD wall charger solution with 5V/2.4A output. I need it with 82% average efficiency and very low power at no-load to meet energy star level 6. I ran WEBENCH, no parts can't meet that. Do you have any solution for level 6?

Hi Jimmy,

You can take a look at PMP8363. It is 5V, 2A design based on UCC28710 with 81% efficiency and standby power of 17mW at 230Vac.

Another option is the LM5023, the EVM is a 65W design, but it achieves ~85% average efficiency, and < 30mW no load power. The efficiency can be increased by increasing the burst mode power transfer at low line, and by adding a Synchronous rectifier on the secondary side if necessary.
