BQ27410 Entering hibernate

Hi

I have used the BQ27410 together with a lithium battery. When the product enters low power, we want to set the gauge in hibernate mode in order to obtain 4uA current consumption.

It should be noted that we are using the 8mA limit for hibernate and 10mA for sleep current.

Also, when the product enters low power the current draw is app. 200uA.

Setting the gauge in hibernate mode is done by setting the hibernate bit and after approximately 7 minutes, the gauge is going from sleep mode to hibernate.

But, this is not always the case. Sometines the gauge remains in sleep mode for some reason. We belive that it has something to do with the current drawn from the battery.

It looks like that the current must go from more than 10mA (we use 20mA before going to sleep) to less than 8mA (below the hibernate current limit) in order to enter hibernate mode.

Also the 7 minutes delay time seems to change, sometimes it is 7 min. and sometimes longer.

Can anyone explain what is going on inside the gauge circuit before entering hibernate?

Thanks in advance, Knud Erik Glud
