TPS74401 Start-up Transient

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS74401, ADC08D1020

Hello,

I am working with the TPS74401 using a 1nF soft-start capacitor and my application is senstive to transients during start up. I have also placed some output capacitance on these LDOs to improve their transient load response during normal orperation.

Looking at figure 1 of the datasheet and the fact that it has a dedicated soft-start feature I would not think that it would be a problem but I wanted to confirm that the TPS74401 meets that requirements of the ADC08d1020 which states in its datasheet:

Many linear regulators will produce output spiking at power-on unless there is a minimum load provided. Active

devices draw very little current until their supply voltages reach a few hundred millivolts. The result can be a turnon

spike that can destroy the ADC08D1020, unless a minimum load is provided for the supply. The 100 Ω

resistor at the regulator output provides a minimum output current during power-up to ensure there is no turn-on

spiking.

Thank you for your help
