BQ25505 Tying VOC_SAMP to VSTOR & CSTOR & CBYP in Parallel

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25505

Greeting all,

BQ25505 data sheets says,

For solar harvesters, the maximum power point is typically 70%-80%. Tying VOC_SAMP to VSTOR internally sets the MPPT regulation point to 80%.

So ,,, I will connect the VOC_SAMP to VSTOR and I will not use ROC1 or ROC2. Am I getting it right??

Also what is the need for connecting both CSTOR & CBYP in Parallel?  ,,,, And will it make any deference knowing that I am using decupling capacitors in all VCC input pins on the system load

Br,

Ahmed

  • Hello Ahmed,

Looking at page 9 of the datasheet it provides a refence schematic for a solar application. This shows VOC_SAMP and VSTOR shorted together. I would recommend follwoing this design which as you stated does not have any Roc1 or Roc2.

The purpose of CSTOR and CBYP is because the voltage of the VSTOR pin is used internally for control purposes and having a small decoupling capacitor helps to reduce any noise that might have coupled onto this trace from triggering undesired states. This deocupling cap needs to as close as posisble to the pin it is serving so the decoupling caps at the system load will suffice.
